Success Story

Using SNMP for Easy Environmental Monitoring
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a network protocol that is commonly used in network management systems (NMS) to monitor network-attached devices. Moxa's SNMP environmental monitoring devices are specifically designed for information applications that use the SNMP protocol. The devices support SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c, and some models support SNMPv3 for secure communications. With Moxa’s SNMP solutions, now you can easily monitor various environmental parameters at unmanned telecommunication sites to enhance safety and operation efficiency.

SNMPv3 for Secure Network Communications
Some of Moxa's SNMP environmental monitoring devices support SNMPv3 for secure communication. SNMPv3 provides security features, such as message integrity to verify that packet contents have not been altered, authentication to verify that packets came from an authorized source, and encryption to ensure that intercepted packets are unreadable by unauthorized machines.

SNMP Trap with I/O Status
A standard SNMP trap consists of trap numbers, with each trap number representing a special event and trap ID. Network administrators need to use MIB
to process SNMP trap messages from devices. Moxa's SNMP solutions support a private SNMP trap format that binds with I/O status. For example, an SNMP message could show "Door Open" instead of numerical strings, allowing administrators to understand the messages as soon as they're received.
