Serial
(TTL) to 10 Mbps Ethernet Network Enabler Module
Overview
Moxa’s new NE
(Network Enabler) series makes it easy for you to
get your serial device Ethernet-ready. NE-4000T
is a compact sized module—only 44 x 31.48 mm, or
less than half the size of your credit card—that
you can easily integrate into your serial device
to make the device 10M Ethernet-ready.
Industrial-proven, built-in
TCP/IP stack
NE-4000T’s
industrial-proven, built-in TCP/IP stack makes it
easy for your R&D engineers to network-enable
your serial device since they won’t need to put
a lot of effort into TCP/IP programming. This means
that they can dedicate the majority of their time
to developing other important features, and you
can reduce your time to market. In addition, NE-4000T’s
8 GPIO pins provide ample design flexibility, giving
you the freedom to develop the features your customers
need.
Another important feature is that NE-4000T consumes
less than 0.325W of power, so that your R&D
engineers can almost ignore the power consumption
issue when adapting NE-4000T to your application.
Compared with other company’s IC or SoC type of
product that use a 3.3V design, NE-4000T’s 5V design
is better suited for today’s equipment, and R&D
engineers can spend less effort implementing the
power circuit.
User-friendly configuration
options
NE-4000T
comes with ready-to-use and reliable TCP/IP communication
firmware for fast integration. Configuration is
done with a user-friendly Windows utility, Web browser,
or serial console. In addition, a Windows-based
NECI (Network Enabler Configuration Interface) Library
is available to help you develop your own Windows
utilities.
NE-4000T has a standard pin space (0.254 mm) with
a dual-in-line, 24-pin design that lets you shorten
the layout time and get your product to market in
no time. And when necessary, customers can easily
replace the module, making it easier for them to
maintain their equipment. Serial interfacing is
accomplished via a TTL interface that includes serial
transmit, receive, and DTR lines. You can simply
remove the line driver and drop in Moxa's Network
Enabler to provide your serial device with Ethernet
capability. The built-in transformer ensures a noise-free
signal, and also saves time and space when designing
the Ethernet circuit.
An integration kit and complete development kit
containing an evaluation board, documentation, cables,
and accessories are available for evaluation and
development use.
